Trapped in the Cycle: Why the Reward Never Comes
People are struggling.
It’s across all age groups, but those born after 1981—Millennials and Gen Z—seem to feel it the most. Or maybe they’re just the ones speaking out.
It doesn’t matter where you live or whether you have a degree. Across socio-economic lines, we share a common truth: we’re working hard, but we’re not getting ahead.
The dream of homeownership feels like a distant hope for many younger people. With rents swallowing entire paychecks and student loans piling on, there’s barely enough left for a simple life—let alone saving for a house. Retirement? That feels like a fantasy.
Meanwhile, we watch CEOs pocket bonuses that could support entire communities, while wages for everyday workers barely cover the basics. Politicians talk of change, but once elected, it’s clear their promises weren’t meant for us.
It’s easy to feel frustrated, hopeless, and even angry. We did everything they told us to do. We worked hard, followed the rules, and waited for the reward. But nothing changes—except the prices we can’t keep up with.
How long do we wait? How long do we keep playing a game we can’t win?
The truth is, history will keep repeating itself until we decide to rewrite it.
But we are not powerless. That’s what they want us to think.
We are not helpless. That’s what they want us to believe.
The truth is, the system wasn’t built for us, and it never will be. So, the question becomes: What can we do about it?
The answer lies in stepping outside their rules and taking back control—of our finances, our communities, and our definition of success.
In the next post, we’ll explore practical steps to break free from the cycle, reclaim our power, and start building a life that works for us. Change is possible, and it starts with us.
